{"id":6439,"date":"2025-02-17T09:24:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-17T08:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/endlich-wachstum.de\/?post_type=method&#038;p=6439"},"modified":"2025-02-17T09:35:13","modified_gmt":"2025-02-17T08:35:13","slug":"global-justice","status":"publish","type":"method","link":"https:\/\/endlich-wachstum.de\/en\/method\/global-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Justice!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Learning objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>recognize global justice as a broad and complex topic with which many aspects and questions are connected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>recognize and reflect on similarities and differences of power-critical (in the Global South and North).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>learn about demands \/ approaches for political measures to strengthen global justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Background<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The introduction of the method will be with the presentation of a short film animation \u201cGlobal Justice!\u201d. This is followed by a space for discussion and reflection to critically generate a recognition of the power relations between the Global South and the Global North. Through the analysis of the images of some scenes of the animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is suggested that the facilitator inquires about definitions of Global South and Global North in terms of power relations and background information, such as colonialism or extractivism. Global justice and social inequalities are also key words for the implementation of this method. The facilitator may find and extra document with some contextual information that may be used as a guide for implementation, like a background text for the short film animation as a work material and the reference of a glossary of Global learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a><\/a> Critical thinking in educational work invites the participants to create their own criteria of analysis. It is important to listen to what the participants say about the topics and open up a space for the participants to develop their own ideas, suggestions or solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All concepts that are presented have a theoretical and social movements background. The method is meant to open up a space for developing solutions. For the facilitator role, it is important to listen to the participants in order to know if they understand the meaning of the concepts and if they can relate with their own knowledge or experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The room needs to be adequate to watch the video together as a group with projector and speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the work in small groups, it is helpful to print out the screenshots scenes. Each picture represents a concept like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201c<em>Global North and Global South\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201c<em>Imperial mode of living\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201c<em>Solidary mode of living\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201c<em>Racism\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201c<em>Global Justice\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each screenshot scene can be accompanied by the concept title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Implementation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. \u201cGlobal Justice!\u201d Video (5 Minutes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is time to watch the video together. Before the projection starts, the facilitator may give some advice about the content of the animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Global Justice!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gYClVu-Gy-E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Semiotic analysis (15 Minutes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entire group is divided into 5 small groups. Each group gets a screenshot scene and the title of the scene it describes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scene 1, title: <em>\u201cGlobal North and Global South\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scene 2, title: <em>\u201cImperial mode of living\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scene 3, title: <em>\u201cSolidary mode of living\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scene 4, title: <em>\u201cRacism\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scene 5, title: <em>\u201cGlobal Justice\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each group should answer the following question based on what the participants see on the screenshots:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 What emotion does the combination of all the elements in the scene evoke in you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Which characters are involved in the scene?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Briefly describe their function of the characters in the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 What is the general mood of the scene?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Group discussion and evaluation (15 Minutes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants come back together in the big group and now get the chance to talk about their exchange in the small groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After that, it is possible to bring the following questions into the group discussion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What measures would be necessary in order to achieve global justice?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What would be an example of good living for everyone?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Check out (5 Minutes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To finish, the facilitator asks everyone to stand up, jump up together and shake out the bodies and extremities, shake it all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Digital version<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the implementation of the method digital consider the way to watch the video simultaneous all together, sharing the audio as well. It may need a platform where it may be possible to make small groups to split in the break our rooms for the second part, and share the screenshots scenes in digital format, the file could upload for example in the chat to share with the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tips and advice for instructors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this method the facilitator should bring a sensitivity for topics related to social inequalities. In this way, they can provide further background information on the concepts and\/or provide examples.
